The level 3 Award in Responding to Incidents with an AED regulated and nationally recognised qualification providers students with the knowledge and practical competencies needed to safely respond and perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
With AEDs being found in more work and public places the use of these by employees and members of the public is on the increase. For Employers, the reassurance that staff have a regulated qualification in the safe use of an AED will further reassure them of their own workplace safety. The qualification will qualify students in the safe use of an AED and will assist them in understanding the management of such equipment.
This qualification is aimed at those over the age of 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with having an AED on site.
Course Units
- Understand basic life support requirements
- Learn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Be able to demonstrate BLS techniques and AED use
- Be able to carry out basic user maintenance and troubleshoot problems with an AED
- Understand the safe use of an AED
Assessment
The exam paper will be taken under examination conditions, i.e. learners will sit a minimum of 1.25 metres apart, will not confer during the examination and no electronic devices (such as mobile phones) or books, including dictionaries, will be permitted.
